Centre Oscar Lambret
Centre Oscar Lambret, located in Lille, is one of the largest hospitals in France with a capacity of 200 in-patient beds. As a teaching and referral hospital, it has experienced continuous growth in research, medical studies, and staff development, supported by the adoption of advanced technologies.
The hospital introduced brachytherapy in 1990 and has since developed extensive expertise, particularly in gynecological (GYN) cancers. In 2015, its radiation oncologists and physicists participated in the workshop on GYN image-guided adaptive brachytherapy at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. The hospital rapidly implemented this approach and has offered combined intracavitary/interstitial MRI-based brachytherapy for GYN malignancies since January 2016.
The brachytherapy unit includes 2 radiation oncologists and 3 physicists, treating approximately 500 patients annually. Equipped for HDR image-based treatment, the hospital is recognized as a regional expert center.
From 2025, Oscar Lambret Hospital serves as an international BrachyAcademy educational center, specializing in GYN malignancies. It offers training visits for teams interested in learning about combined intracavitary/interstitial image-guided adaptive brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer.
Programs include 1–5 day in-house training sessions covering treatment indications, procedures, contouring, and dosimetry. Participants gain comprehensive, practical insight into the clinical workflow of image-guided brachytherapy for GYN cancers.
