German Oncology Center (GOC) Cyprus
The German Oncology Center was founded in 2017 in Limassol, Cyprus, as an advanced cancer care hospital. The GOC team based on its long-standing experience in the field of brachytherapy, both in regard to clinical application and technological innovation, adopted from day one highly advanced technology, offering to patients high-end individualized treatments.
GOC introduced brachytherapy in November 2017 with an extensive service focusing on prostate, gynecological, breast, liver cancer and intraoperative procedures. It is evident that the GOC team invested greatly in the brachytherapy infrastructure/facilities with two brachytherapy suites, direct access to CT, MRI and PET-CT scanners, as well as a brand new shielded operation theater. GOC can be considered an expert reference center both in the Mediterranean region and Europe, with a dedicated brachy team consisting of 4 radiation oncologists and 3 physicists, treating annually approximately 350 patients. At the same time, the center aims to remain academically active, through ongoing prospective trials in the field of brachytherapy.
The GOC is a designated international BrachyAcademy Educational Center for interstitial, superficial and intracavitary brachytherapy techniques, with a special focus on prostate cancer. The hospital hosts clinical workshops for radiation oncologists, medical physicists and radiation therapy technologists on various brachytherapy application sites. Observational visits to the GOC are organized for radiation oncology teams wishing to learn more about a broad variation of interstitial brachytherapy, where participants can observe clinical workflows and gain hands-on experience.
