A BrachyAcademy-endorsed event in Istanbul designed to elevate your brachytherapy practice. This in-person, hands-on course offers advanced training in applicator selection and hybrid techniques for senior residents and specialists who wish to begin with intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy or enhance their skills to improve patients outcomes.

Learning objectives

Brachytherapy remains the gold standard for the effective treatment of gynecological cancers. However, fully understanding and integrating brachytherapy applications into daily clinical practice often requires many years of experience. Equally important – yet challenging – is the transfer of this expertise to new trainees, as typically only one physician performs a case.

This course is designed to provide hands-on experience in selecting the appropriate applicators on a case-by-case basis, including the integration of interstitial methods with intracavitary applications. Training will take place first on phantoms and then on fresh-frozen cadavers, giving participants the opportunity to practice the full procedure and engage in in-depth discussions. Medical physicists will have separate sessions on treatment planning.

The course director, Professor Merdan Fayda, is an outstanding educator with extensive experience and a long-standing role as an educational partner of BrachyAcademy.
