This 2‑day course will focus on introducing and demonstrating concepts and processes of brachytherapy for Soft Tissue Sarcoma (STS) and Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. The course will cover various aspects of brachytherapy including patient selection, principles of brachytherapy, techniques, planning, and implementation of brachytherapy for these sites. These will be covered in didactic lectures, and live/video demonstrations. Expert faculty will also give their insights on special brachytherapy applications like MRI‑based/Contact X‑ray brachytherapy for rectal cancer, STS brachytherapy in difficult sites, and Plastic Reconstruction setting. There will also be hands on training on the planning system for the planning of brachytherapy for these sites.

Clinical experience in brachytherapy.
Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists interested in soft tissue sarcoma and GI brachytherapy who intend to start the brachytherapy program at their center or enhance their existing skills will be suitable candidates for this course. The team of a Radiation Oncologist and a Medical Physicist from the same center will be preferred so that the knowledge gained during the course can be implemented at their center.
